On Saturday March 23rd
Skagit, Island, San School Retiree's will be hosting a special event at 11 a.m. at the Royal Star Restaurant in Mount Vernon.

Author Sandra Vea, a fellow educator will share her book:
 Masao: A Nisei Soldier's Secret and Heroic Role in WW II

In this book she follows a Japanese/American named Masao Abe through his family's internment.  She also details his joining the U. S. Army, serving in the Military Intelligence Service in the South Pacific during WW II.

 

Also speaking, Diane Visten, WSSRA State Legislative Committee Member will update members on her visit to Legislators in the 10th, 39th, 40th and 42nd districts on March 20 and 21st.  She will talk about the current status of bills impacting the pensions of school employees, retired and active.

Buffet lunch will be a special price of only $5.00.

Meeting is open to all WSSRA members and guests.
